Every week, new films are released that we would love to programme but simply can’t. There isn’t enough room. We only have so many screens and so many days, and choosing one film always means leaving another out. “Descobrint cinema d'estrena” was born precisely from that frustration: from watching films that deserve to find their audience pass us by.

In Bande, Ourense, Roman thermal baths resurface when the water level of the reservoir drops. António and Jota bathe there, two friends who know each other inside out and who will soon have to part ways. In that very same place, two thousand years earlier, two soldiers returning from the front also undress and end up talking about fear, desire, and everything they do not dare say out loud.

Gabriel Azorín makes his feature debut with Anoche conquisté Tebas, a film of unusual delicacy: a story about intimacy between men, about a tenderness that does not yet have a name, and about the things that only steam and darkness allow us to confess.
