The European Film Challenge, which this year celebrates its 4th edition in Spain, is an initiative of the European film industry to bring European cinema closer to young audiences.
Throughout the year, three challenges are proposed in which users who register on its platform are invited to view 10 European films in 10 weeks. These viewings give points, but it must be demonstrated by uploading a photo that proves that those films have been seen and, very importantly, that it has been on a legal platform or in a movie theater. The participant who earns the most points will take a trip to an international film festival.
FIRST CHALLENGE 2021: CANNES
Until next June 3, users will be able to participate in this challenge and accumulate points by watching European films and uploading their photos to the website https://europeanfilmchallenge.eu/es/.
The first European Film Challenge film will score 40 points.
SECOND CHALLENGE 2021: SAN SEBASTIÁN
This challenge will arrive in July and it aims to find the most cinematic young man in the country and turn him into a critic of the best European cinema for a year.
The winner will also attend the San Sebastian Festival accredited as an EFC member (travel and accommodation included). And as a novelty, these awards will be implemented with the celebration of the Films & Friends event, an exclusive preview (of a European film) for the winner and their guests.
THIRD CHALLENGE 2021: BERLIN FESTIVAL
This challenge will take place from October.
All three challenges share some common annual benefits: winners will receive € 300 worth of recording equipment that will allow them to create content; 15 cinema tickets for European films; an annual subscription to Filmin Plus that includes 25 vouchers for diamond movies; access to press passes, interviews, premieres and other promotional events.
