New York, 1990s. Hank Thompson (Austin Butler) was a high school baseball phenom who can no longer play, but everything else is going well for him. He has a great girlfriend (Zoë Kravitz), he's a bartender at a New York City dive bar, and his favorite team is surprisingly in contention for the championship. When his punkish neighbor Russ (Matt Smith) asks him to babysit his cat for a few days, Hank finds himself caught in the middle of a motley group of menacing gangsters. They all want something from him; the problem is, he doesn't know why.
