January 1942, 400,000 Jews from all over Poland have been confined by the Nazis to a narrow ghetto in the middle of the city for more than a year. Outside the wall, life goes on. Inside, its inhabitants struggle to survive. But the high brick wall cannot stop the creation of a group of Jewish actors who, on a freezing winter night, perform a musical comedy in the Fémina theatre. The audience laughs and is moved by a love story, forgetting their plight for a moment. Behind the scenes, the actors are faced with a life and death dilemma of whether to make an escape after the performance.
