Synopsis: Guillermo Fernández-Zúñiga was a pioneer of scientific cinema in Spain and a member of the Republic's audiovisual broadcasting team during the Spanish Civil War. Despite having great historical importance, much of his work has been lost over the years. Such is the case of La flor de Irupé, a film that he began in exile in Buenos Aires, but which he never completed. Candela Sotos carries out an exercise in reconstructing personal memory, traveling through family stories and official archives to shed light on a biography that, like so many others, was hidden by Francoism. Sotos follows in his great-uncle's footsteps and constructs a film that, between science and poetry, is as unique as the plant that gives it its name: that gigantic and mysterious Amazonian water lily that blooms only once a year, at night and unexpectedly.
